Heat starts blowing when set to cool, but not all the time

When I set the thermostat to cool, sometimes it works fine.  But after it reaches the set temperature and turns off, when it starts back up again it blows heat.  Other times I set it to cool after it has been off a while, and it blows hot.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

If you have a B model heat pump, your reversing valve is not working properly.

Thank you so much for your response.  I have found when I make the desired temp well below the current temp, it pretty consistently blows cool air, so I guess that is a work around.
