Heat turning self back on

Annalia
Community Member

My nest thermostat keeps turning heat back on when I have turned it off.  I do not have schedules turned on.  It just turns back on randomly heating to 90 degrees.  This is when I have turned it off totally or just randomly increases heat setting to 90 if I do have it on.

90!  Yikes!

One possibility is that although you are not intending to run the Nest on a schedule, it may have a schedule in it already that it's following.  Try looking at that in the Home app.

If you can't see (and change) the 90 there, you could try a Restart, or even a Reset, though with a Reset you have to start over entirely so it's not without risk.  https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247296?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=9361783

Still having the issue, it has been turning the heat on to 90 when we have the heat off and same thing it’s also turning on cooling to 50.  I can’t get it to stop.

Hi Annalia,

Thanks for the response. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having the same issue. To isolate this, could you try checking the Nest Energy History on the Nest app? This would give us information on why it's changing the target temperature automatically. You can click on this link to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi Annalia,

Thanks for the response. The Energy History shows when the target temperature has been changed. When you tap on the temperature on the Energy History, it will show you information about that target temperature.

Thanks,

Edward

I don’t see the info you’re talking about. I see bar graphs but no specific temperature or anything. Sometimes I turn off the system and it comes back on for no reason. Or I’ll have heat on and it turns up to 90 from whatever temp I had set and also happens when it’s turned off too. It turns on and sets to 90. Same thing with air turns on when I have it turned off or if I have it on it changes it to 50 from what temp I had it set for
