Heating system briefly stopped 5 times

Hi,
I was having furnace issues and the system WAS shutting off to avoid overheating. I have had a tech out and the system has been fully serviced.

This morning at 7:34 am I received an activity alert that says "heating system briefly stopped 5 times" but when I go to that message, where all activity is listed, I can't seem to select it or get more info.

How do I view WHEN it briefly stopped? Is that possible, to see the 5 times it stopped briefly? Is the message just from 7:34 am — or does that mean that is WHEN the system shut on and off? Long and short, I am hoping this is a summary from the last week or few days. That would make a lot of sense.

If it is NOT a summary, and it actually was shut on and off 5 times this morning, that may mean the $1200 repair I just paid for has not solved the issue.

Thanks for any help making more sense of the message.

Is this a 3rd gen thermostat? If so, Could have been caused by the recent nest software update. Mine bricked itself after the update.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to the community page.

@rbabbit70, I'm sorry to hear you're receiving a notification that your system has stopped working and that you're unable to review the activity. I understand it's very important to have your heating system functioning. Don't worry, let's work together to resolve this. To better assist you, I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have? To check it, please visit the next article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
  • When did the issue start?
  • Did you receive the message as an email or a push notification?
  • Are there any error messages on your Nest thermostat display? If so, what are they exactly?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have? (Heat pump, conventional system, etc.)
  • Does the issue happen on heating only, cooling only, or both?

@Djm2, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation. Please answer the following questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Please explain your issue in a little more detail.

Please let me know the answers to these questions, and I'll be happy to help you further.

Regards,
Jonathan
