Heating won't turn off at night

Hello,

I have a Nest Thermostat-E for my basement that I am using as an office space. I have configured it as a "business" type in settings/general. With this particular setting, it used to turn off the heating even at night, when no-one is in this office space. Today, this does not work anymore and the heating goes on all the night. I would like that it turns off the heating automatically each time I leave this place for multiple hours, whether it is in the middle of the day, or at night.

Does someone have a similar issue and can suggest the right settings ?

Thanks.

Hi Julien_25,

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

A few things we can check for us to further isolate the issue. Check the temperature schedule. It's possible that your Nest Thermostat E has learned this from the previous temperature change. In the schedule, check for the time it usually turns on at night and delete it from there and then we'll observe how it's going after making the changes.

Best regards,

Ryan

Hello Ryan,

There is no schedule actually for this thermostat. I set it to 20°C and expect it to turn on when I enter the room, and turn off a few minutes after I leave the room, night or day (thanks to the business type). It used to work very well the past 3-4 years. But now, starting from Jan 2022, it does not work anymore at night only. I mean, during the day, if I leave, it goes off. But during the night, after 7PM (not sure) if I leave the room at 11PM for instance, it will heat till 6AM, and it does not check if someone is present or not. After 6AM it turns off automatically, as I suspect 6AM is the start of the day for it. I am using only the sensor for presence detection (home/away) and not the phone.

Thanks.

Julien.
