Ask: looking for advice on how how/if Google Nest can solve my problem.
Background:
- location, Australia
- i have two Nest Learning thermostats working fine.
- I have 2 zones, upstairs , downstairs
- upstairs has 3 bedrooms, large lounge & study space , it takes a lot of energy to heat. I only really need 1 bedroom heated at night.
- I cannot wire an additional nest thermostat due to concrete construction without a lot of work
- I have wifi & Cat6 through out the house.
Issue:
I would like to use the temperature of my bedroom to control the heater coming on and off AND not the thermostat reading of the nest learning thermostat
Nest previously had a product called thermostat E - and it connected wirelessly , to the learning thermostat and its reading could allow me to control the heater coming on and off. While I purchased it NEST never supported in Australia ….
Question:
Does Nest offer a product or have an 3rd party product which can provide the solution here?
does the new Nest thermostat integrate with the next learning thermostat gen3 OR could it solve this problem can it connect to another wirelessly ?
it seems crazy that in a smart home , that smart tech cant figure how to provide a device which communicates with the Gen 3 device and allows me to set the temp of a particular room. I don’t care if the rest of the zone is cooler just the room I sleep in. Surely I’m not alone here most houses have cool spots , hot spots.
is anything planning in the next 6 months abs will it be supported in Australia

Google has these remote sensors, described in the link above. Might that work for your situation?

Hi thanks for the reply. The temperature sensor sounds perfect but ( and it’s makes no sense) only works with the nest thermostat Gen 3 in Canada, US & Mexico - not smart not global , it would be a simple software fix.

Google clearly know and understand the need here - this is the description of the temp sensor “The Google Nest Temperature Sensor lets you choose where your thermostat measures the temperature in your home to help keep you comfortable.”
Could someone from google comment why this is restricted & not available in other countries ? How is this not simply a business decision ?

Melba this is again a nothing answer. I have been waiting for a solution for 2 years now.
So you are confirming there is no plan to address this solution gap and certainly no timeline?

Hey there,
I understand however, we don't have news to share if there's a plan to have this addressed. What is definite is, we've passed your feedback along to the team.
