The trane has 8 wires. This is not a dual fuel system. Can someone help me wire this?

This is what I tried but when I try to program it, it keeps shutting down.

@railroaddonna

Your current thermostat is only 100% compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen,

This is how you would wire it.

Blue - B to C

White - W to W2 (set as AUX heat)

Red - R to Rc

White - T - (not used, tape off)

Yellow - Y to Y1

Green - G to G

Orange - O to OB

Black - X2 to * (set as emergency heat)

You can use the Google Nest Thermostat if you will never need emergency heat.

You would then wire it like this.

Blue - B to C

White - W to W (set as AUX heat)

Red - R to R

White - T - (not used, tape off)

Yellow - Y to Y

Green - G to G

Orange - O to */OB

Black - X2 - (tape off, not used)
