Help with Nest Thermostat Wiring - Heat Pump

AustinRP

Hi, I'm having difficulty with my wiring setup.

My system is a single stage heat pump, not dual fuel (it's only electric).  It may have an AUX/2nd stage heater, but I'm not sure (it's a friend's home).  The existing wiring suggests that this may be the case.

Edit: Just clarifying/repeating that this is a single fuel (electric only) unit.

My existing thermostat is wired:

C: Blue

G: Green

R: Red (R and Rc are jumped)

Y: Yellow

W;O/B - Orange

W2/AUX - White

I entered the wiring into the app using the heat pump labels for Orange and White.  So, I entered: R,C,W2,Y/Y1,G/G1,O/B

The app said to move the White wire to W1 (not to keep it at W2/AUX) and Red to RH (not RC).  In the Nest Pro Install Guide, no heat pump setups use W1 unless they are dual fuel units

So, I'm confused about the app recommendations.  Any help would be appreciated.

Any help is appreciated.

My simple dual fuel Coleman heat pump with natural gas backup doesn’t use W1.  .  No heat strips in my air handler.

It’s just

Y1

G

OB

W2/AUX

C

RH

My unit is single fuel, not dual fuel, I should have made that more clear in my post.

Thank you for the reply, however.

Hi AustinRP,

Thanks for posting in the Community! For sure, I can definitely help you with this wiring configuration assistance. Since your system is a single-stage Heat Pump, here you have a recommended wiring configuration that you can try.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Regards,

Axel.
