Trying to install the nest learning thermostat and having issues with this wiring. Tried what the app called a traditional install and have no power to device at all.  Tried connecting exactly how old thermostat was connected and had no cooling. Here was old (Honeywell) thermostat wiring:

I have yellow wire to W1, white to O/B, green to G, red to R and blue to C.

Hello heathriver,

It sounds like you're encountering some challenges with installing your Nest Learning Thermostat. Let's troubleshoot the issue step-by-step.

First, it's important to ensure that the Nest Thermostat is compatible with your HVAC system. Based on your old Honeywell thermostat wiring, it seems like a standard setup. Here's a suggestion for the wiring on the Nest:

  • Yellow wire to Y1 (cooling)
  • White wire to W1 (heating)
  • Green wire to G (fan)
  • Red wire to Rc (power)
  • Blue wire to C (common)

However, your old thermostat had the white wire connected to O/B, which is typically used for reversing valves in heat pump systems. For Nest, the O/B wire is used for the * terminal in heat pump systems. If you have a heat pump, you might need to move the white wire from O/B to W1. To have a better look, can you post a picture of your old thermostat and Nest Thermostat's wiring set up?

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark
