Hi @Tudorsevciuc,

Thanks for posting here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest thermostat is unexpectedly activating the heat. Help's here!

To gather more information, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What is the model of your Nest thermostat?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • Are there any error messages?

In the meantime, I'd suggest the following:

  • Check wiring (power off first): Turn off power to your HVAC system at the breaker box. Then, confirm all wires are securely connected and fully inserted into the thermostat terminals.
  • Review the schedule: Look for any outdated heating schedules that might be overriding your desired settings.
  • Restart the thermostat: Sometimes a simple restart can fix glitches. See the next article for specific instructions based on the model: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Hi @Tudorsevciuc,

Thanks for following up! I'm sorry to hear the steps didn't work as expected, and I truly appreciate your efforts.

Here are some steps that might help:

  • Turn off Auto Schedule: This feature allows the thermostat to adjust the temperature based on your routine. To disable it, go to the thermostat settings > Nest Sense > Auto-Schedule. You can learn more about how Nest thermostats learn in this article: How Nest thermostats learn.
  • Clear the schedule. To reset any existing schedule, go to thermostat settings > Reset > Schedule. More information can be found here: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat.
  • Reset Home/Away Settings: Reset the Home/Away options by going to the thermostat's settings > Reset > Home or Away.
  • Review Safety Temperature: Make sure the safety temperature is set up properly, or turn it off if preferred. You can find details on safety temperatures here: Thermostat Safety Temperatures.

Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could share a photo of your Nest thermostat's wiring configuration. It would be very helpful.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
