Hi kdawn8000,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.
I'd like to know if you've already set your location in the Nest Thermostat settings. If you still have the Nest app, you could try the steps below:
Let me know how it goes by replying to this thread.

Hi kdawn8000,
Thanks for the update.
Is it still showing the same delay in time even if you've already updated the address?

Hi kdawn8000,
Thanks for the reply and I am sorry for the delay.
Have you tried doing a complete reset on your Nest Thermostat? Once done, we could do the setup once again and re-connect to the internet.

Ryan

That won’t work because I actually have two of them in that house when I installed eight months later and they were both acting the same way

Hi kdawn8000,
Thanks for the reply.
If both of the thermostat is doing the same thing, we could try to connect one of them to a different Wi-Fi network. We could use your mobile phone (hotspot) a different network. This way, we could eliminate other factors that might affect the date and time of your Nest Thermostat.

Ryan

I will try that when I get back to the house in October

Hey there,
Sounds like a plan. Should this thread gets closed and you still need help once you're at the location, feel free to create a new thread using the same Gmail account you've used to post this so we could check on the conversation history.
Cheers,
Melba

Hey kdawn8000,
Oops, sorry about that ― this is noted. We'll go ahead and close this thread now. Also as I've mentioned above, feel free to create a new thread should you still need help once you're at the location of your Nest thermostat.
Best,
Melba
