Home/Away allowed me to completely turn off my AC. now it only allows Eco mode. Why?

In the past Home/Away allowed me to completely turn off the upstairs (almost always unoccupied) AC and heat. Now It only allows ECO Mode. Why?  ECO is more difficult to manage than turning off when I will be away

Hi Len,

Sorry to hear about your Eco Mode issues! We want you to be as comfortable as you'd like in your own home, so let's get you there.

Can you try out the following steps for me?
  • Open the Nest app.
  • Select your thermostat on the Nest app home screen.
  • Tap Settings Nest settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Select Home/Away Assist.
  • At the top of the screen you can disable automatically switching to Eco Temperatures.
(You can also select if your thermostat will use Eco Temperatures while you’re home or away.)

Proceed if you'd like to set larger thresholds for your Eco Mode temp thresholds:
  • Tap on Eco Temperatures to set the temperature range.
  • To adjust the range, drag the slider.

Tip: The Nest Leaf leaf icon will appear to let you know you’ve chosen a temperature that can help save energy.

Let us know how it goes!
