Home/Away mode severely bugged. Please help.

Good Afternoon.

I have a Neat learning thermostat E and it is perhaps the worst piece of Google tech I've ever purchased. I am extremely frustrated and am seeking help to remedy the situation.

I work from home ( in my basement ) and during the day the Nest will swap into "eco" mode because it does not "sense" me.

To combat this I have enabled the nest to use my phone's location - turned on always on location tracking, and precise location. Regardless of these settings, the device still goes into eco mode.

Today it allowed my house to heat up to 76 degrees while I was in the basement working. Now I have to spend more money cooling back down to 72.

There seems to be no good option to disable nest presence/sense or whatever feature is causing the device to do this. It's costing me money, time, and comfort on a routine basis instead of doing it's job.

Can anyone help me get unstuck? I've seen similar complaints on these forums and others dating back years. This cannot be what is supposed to be happening.

Hi StrangerWays,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand your Nest Thermostat E is turning on Eco mode and not detecting when you're home. I know this can be frustrating, but don't worry, I'm here to help! Before i try some troubleshooting steps, I need to ask a few questions:

  • Do you have any family members who can control your Nest Thermostat E, or are you the only one using the Nest app?
  • Is your Nest Thermostat E showing any error or code messages?

I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel
