Home Away

SteveTJ1231

I have set up the thermostat to go to Eco temperatures when set to Away but although it recognises I am not at Home, the heating and hot water still come on as normal.

I have set the system to recognise that my phone is not at home and therefore switch to Away mode.

I am having to go onto the App and change it to Eco mode manually.

Any suggestions?

Frustrating!  If you scroll through this forum you'll see that someone asks a similar question just about every day.  Apparently Home/Away Assist has a bug or two.  With so many people having a problem, it may be impossible to tell whether your device or set-up is faulty, or you're just afflicted with the same bug.

Hi SteveTJ1231,

Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about what's happening.

The Home Away assist is one of the features of your thermostat that helps to save energy in the long run. Few things to check for us to further isolate the issue:

  • How many mobile devices are connected to your thermostat?
  • How long have you been using your Nest Thermostat?
  • Check out this link for a complete guide.

Best regards,

Ryan
