Hot water not as hot as before install of nest

Hi since I’ve had my nest learning thermostat installed my hot water just isn’t getting anywhere near as hot as it used to. I’ve tried turning up the boiler but that’s not worked. Is there a setting that the installer may have set on the receiver which is shutting the boiler off at a lower temp. Of hot water than before with the old thermostat. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. My installer has had a family tragedy so I don’t feel I can contact him to ask.

A few questions: what Nest Thermostat do you have? Check this link to know what thermostat you have. Since when has this been happening? Which country are you posting from? Also, what other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

It’s a learning nest thermometer, and since it was installed my hot water is just not getting hot enough, no matter how long it’s on or how high the boiler temperature is. Is there a setting that can be changed?

Yes please, just need to know if the installer set the temp lower in some way. I can’t contact him as he’s had a family tragedy. My set up is a gas boiler, and a mega flow storage tank. No matter how long I leave the water turned in or how high I set the boiler temp. The water didn’t get as hot as before we had the nest thermostat installed. I just need to know if there is a setting I can change. Thanks

No worries. Just to clarify, you have a system boiler that runs on gas and a separate hot water tank, correct? 

If you had a combi boiler with OpenTherm compatibility, then you could set the hot water temperature for both the heating and hot water. In the case of a system boiler with a separate hot water tank the thermostat, and the Heat Link, act like an on/off switch, kinda like a light switch. When the water is scheduled to be on the relay inside of the Heat Link switches on and the hot water tank should start heating. 

Now regardless of how long the hot water is scheduled to be on the hot water tank should heat the water only until it reaches a set temperature that is controlled by a separate thermostat, programer or different control unit mounted on or close to the hot water tank. So even if you scheduled it to be on 24/7, the water tank should turn off once the set temperature on it is reached. 

Most likely you should have some controls for the water tank temperature on the tank itself or around the location.
