I have an old house, with ony 2 wires on my current (heat only) thermostat. Those are W and RC. Can I connect my thermostat to the R connection on the nest, because there is no RC, and my old thermostat does not have R?

If you want to use the Google Nest Thermostat (mirrored display) with a two-wire heat-only system you will need a C wire or the Nest Power Connector.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for posting. @Patrick_Caezza thanks so much for helping out by sending information about the C wire o power connector necessary to install the Nest Thermostat. That's definitely helpful for the community! @mrwebbo I understand that you have a two wire system, don't worry. You can connect the RC wire to the R terminal on the Nest thermostat base but, for the thermostat to function fully, you'll need either a C wire or the Power Connector. We hope the information that you found was helpful in answering your question about the Nest Thermostat.
You can check the "Learn about the common or C wire" article for detailed information about the C wire and why it is necessary to connect the Nest Thermostat.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help.
Best regards,
Jenny
