How can I download the history of my Nest thermostat?

I want to download a history of my Nest thermostat.  I see the history on the thermo gives me like seven days.

I would like to download months or years.

Is this doable?

Try retrieving your historical data from your nest here. Make sure to sign in with the same email account associated with your Nest Thermostat.

Hi Royalboater,

Thanks for getting back. Let's find out more about retrieving your Nest data.

How was it? Were you able to download your Nest data history from the Google Takeout link? Also, Once you have fully extracted your archive, some file types (such as html and png) will be visible in your browser and show as clickable links that will open the file. Check this link for more.

Could we download historical nest data. At the moment it only gives one week's worth of limited data, the time period heating used. Can we please request a feature so that we can download all the historical data please?

It appears its not an instant download.  It says Google will email you when its ready.  Have you tried to do a download?

I was able to but that was a year ago and yes, it took me a few days. The duration depends on how big the data you're downloading as well as the speed of your internet connection.

After downloading Nest thermostat history via Takeout for my three Nest thermostats (took 24 hours after request !), the  8GB of .JSONL files  are of limited use. 

Is there a way to display this data in a human-readable format ? Something like Eccobee's HomeIQ  which provides a wealth of practical analysis  ? https://support.ecobee.com/s/articles/Viewing-your-thermostat-s-HomeIQ-reports

The HomeIQ is part of their web-based portal, something which is also lacking for Google Nest.

I am interest in installing a smart thermo. All the responses above seem to avoid giving a tutorial on how to download. I want to know the data capabilities without buying it first. 

Come on guys why are you avoiding an explanation. Stop asking someone if they have succeeded and tell us if it can be done, what the data consists of and how to import the data into a spreadsheet. WTF

I just gave up. Until those at Google understand a 10days analysis of the thermostats operation is pretty poor customer service so of stuck with what we got. Will happily replace when someone comes up with a fully functional device

Not a user-friend process at all!!

Would be great to request an enhancement feature = Button to get the historical data downloaded automatically : date/time/temp/humidity/weather this day/Heat duration this day...etc

I see the last activity on this was in February 28, 2023 by a customer. Have any of the Google Community specialists replied at all since February 27, 2023? I'd also like to access this data that contains time, duration, temperature over a few weeks, months, years. 

Nothing against Google or Nest but my neighborhood community is trying to build a case against the community development and we all need this data to help our cases. Would be eternally grateful if we could have access to the data that's already being collected.
