How can I get the app to recognize my thermostats again?

I have had the nest system for over a year.  Suddenly the app no longer displayed my two thermostats.  I have tried to re-connect by scanning the QR code on the back face of the thermostat cover and then prompted for entry key.  However, the thermostat shows it is connected to app.  I have tried to reset the thermostat and still brings me to the same problem of needing the entry key.  How do I find the entry key or work around needing it to get the app showing my thermostats?

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with re-adding your Nest Thermostat to the Google Home app, You could follow the steps below to get the entry key,

 

  1. Press your thermostat’s ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Turn the ring to Nest app and press the ring to select it.
  4. Select Get Entry Key to retrieve a unique entry key. Follow the next steps below to use your Nest app to add your thermostat to your account.

Following your instructions i get  "connected to an account".  My wife's home dropped the nest and we cannot re-add it. It is still on my phone.

Hi DWT,

 

Thanks for the response. The message that you're getting means that your Nest Thermostat is still connected to an account. While it's connected to an account, your Nest Thermostat won't give you an entry key. You could check the account that is logged in to your Nest App and make sure that you're logged in to the same email that you used when you installed the thermostat for the first time.
