I have a rental property with 2 learning nests(upstairs &downstairs). I would like my renters to be able to change the temperature, but not be able to turn down the thermostat to 60 degrees or as high as 80 degrees. I would like to have a range with cool as low as 68 and heat as high as 78). How do I lock with a pin those ranges.

Hey Lauren,
Sorry for the delayed response.
When you set your Nest thermostat to Heat•Cool mode, you can choose a temperature range. Your thermostat will heat or cool to stay within this range. The smallest range you can set on your thermostat is 2º F (for example, 68-70º F).
When you set the lock, you'll create a PIN, and then your thermostat will be locked to the range that you've chosen. Unless you enter the PIN and unlock your thermostat, you won't be able to use your thermostat to adjust the temperature or change any settings. If you need to change your temperature range or settings, you can use the Nest or Home app or unlock your thermostat first. Check this out for more information: https://bit.ly/3ojepqi

Once you set a temperature range and lock it with a PIN, if your renters twist the thermostat dial, the temperature will change within the range you've set. If they click the dial, they'll get prompted for a PIN. It's very easy to click the dial accidentally though, so I'd be sure to mention that.
In the app > Settings > Lock > Enter 4 Digit PIN > Select temperature range.

hi Melba,
Thank you for your response. I figured out locking within the range Of heat cold mode, but I cannot adjust the temperature without unlocking it with a pin. I do hope that function changes, because I would really like to do used cold mode locked with out having to put in a pin and being able to adjust the temperature instead of only allowing the range. Thank you for your response.
