I have set a rather basic schedule: set Comfort mode with AC at 72 degrees at 8am, then set it to Eco mode with AC at 78 degrees at 6pm. However, the Nest will constantly switch to Eco mode during the 8am-6pm period, then turn off the AC. I have to poke it and manually set it to comfort mode when the AC turns off.
I guess it thinks I'm not home? We have a big house and I'm not constantly walking past the thermostat. But I also had location services turned on through my phone, with always-on GPS, and it still doesn't realize I'm home. (I'd rather not share my physical location with Google at all times but, if I do, it should at least know that--if I'm home--the AC should be on.)
Regardless, I'd like to stick with the schedule that I've set. That doesn't seem like it should be difficult. However, it looks like there's no way to turn off "Automatic Schedule Changes" or Leaf mode. Why not?
I realize that this is a "smart" thermostat. But my life would be a lot more comfortable if it were just... dumb.

I am having the same issues. For me, I have set a schedule which would have the AC on now, but it keeps switching back to ECO mode, which (for me) has very high temperatures and therefore turns off the AC. "Automatic Schedule Changes" is on and I can't turn it off.

for what its worth, after i did my factory reset, redid all the programmed temps, set up, etc, it started working after a few days when i left it off because it had cooled outside. After working perfectly for a few weeks, i happened to open the Google Home app and i was asked if i wanted it to adjust the temp to…i didnt even read it because I hit no so fast. Seems like google put a one-way prompt in there that you cant disable…but thats just me.

Hi folks,
@Darthfeder , thanks for sharing your experience. I'm pretty sure this may help others in this community with similar situations.
@AaronJSussman , I understand your frustration with your Nest Thermostat not adhering to your scheduled settings. It's designed to learn your habits and adjust accordingly, but it seems to be misinterpreting your routine.
If the suggestion from @Darthfeder didn't work for your scenario, I'd like to gather some additional information to better understand what could be causing this behavior.
However, temporarily turning off the Home/Away feature for the Nest thermostat could be an option to consider to check if the thermostat adjusts to the schedule you set.
To turn off the Home/Away feature on your thermostat, please follow these steps:
If you have multiple devices and want to disable Home/Away Assist for all of them, you'll need to repeat these steps for each individual device.
Try these steps and let me know if you were able to resolve the issue.
Regards,
Josh
