I bought a Nest Learning Thermostats June 2021 (13 month now).
It has been working fine until a couple of weeks ago. It started showing an error of low battery, then it cured itself.
It shows low battery error again this week. It continued working for a couple of days, then it completely died, even stays off after I connect it to USB charging cable.
I have tried replacing the battery, didn't help.
I don't buy the argument of C wire - it worked without C wire for a year, and the new Nest (below) works fine without C wire.
The house temperature gets unbearable hot, I can't live with a bad thermostat.
I bought a new Nest, plug in. The new Nest worked right away.
Totally disappointed that a $250 piece of Google hardware only lasted 1 yr.
How can I claim a warranty and request for a refund?

My nest Thermostat that I’ve owned for less than a year broke and Google warranty page will not process and says there’s an error. Need someone to contact me.

Hey folks,
Sorry for the delayed response and I understand how you feel about your Nest thermostats.
fengchen8, what country are you in and where was this thermostat bought? I'll be more than glad to check on your warranty options.
Shanobi, could you tell us more what is happening on your thermostat? Also, when and where was it bought and what country are you in?
Best,
Melba

I'm in US. Nest is bought from HD.
It may not matter now. I managed to find a live chat entry point, and get connected to someone who can authorize an exchange (no refund). Overall process is smooth. Nest puts a $200 hold on my credit card, sends the new (or refurbished) device over. I send the faulty (old) Nest back, and Next will drop the $200 hold on my CC. It took me 3-4 days to get the replacement. So if you live in southern states, you are on your own to figure out cooling options.
Honestly, those old "dumb" thermostats last forever, rarely failed. Now in my house, I have just added another thing to worry about, and if it fails, it is the utmost emergency for the man in the house to handle 😨
The live chat entry point is neither obvious nor direct. I don't remember how I get there at this point 😓 I need to find it again when it happens again.
