One Nest Thermostat Multiple Homes

Fish
Community Member

Hi I currently have two nest thermostats that are connected to a single home, and they work fine. I am trying to debug my daughters set up. In her Google home app she has two homes defined. Each phone has one of her two thermostats. So say home A has thermostat 1 and home B has thermostat 2.

I don’t like this so I was trying to get both thermostat 1 and 2 under home A.

I cannot get the second thermostat to connect under home A. I am wondering if that is because thermostat 2 to cannot belong to two homes at the same time.

I could factory reset everything and start over but I don’t want to mess up what they already have working. Their current set up does work but it’s just not ideal.

Hey Fish,

Thanks for reaching out.

I'm afraid that if you want to move a Nest thermostat from one home to another, you need to reset it to its default settings, remove it from the app then set it up to the other home afterwards. Make sure that you select the new home in the app before you re-add your thermostat.
