How to make nest thermostat control another thermostat?

Hi,

I have two HVAC units cooling one big room, and I have 2 nest thermostats to control these two units.

the issue is that they never read the same temperature :(, and one AC is working much longer than the other since it is reading higher inside temperature.

I do not need scheduling and learning, but I need to configure one to be like master and control the other nest thermostat operation,,, or at least to share the measured temperature inside.

is there any way to solve this ? And have them both work together and stop together ?

thank you !

Hi bsawaked,

Thanks for reaching out. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? You can visit this link to check what type of thermostat you have. How far are these thermostats from each other? How much is the temperature difference they read? Is there a thick wall between these thermostats?

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi,

these are Nest learning thermostats 3rd gen.

they are around 20 foot apart with no barrier between them (no walls or anything)

Usually they read 1 degree difference. But it is not always the case. Like now they read the same temperature… I tried setting different temperatures, but it never worked to balance for them to work together… The one that reads higher temperature turns on for much longer hours… and keeps trying to cool the room… the other one does not kick on until it gets hotter.

I was thinking if they is a way to make both read the temperature from one, or make one of them control the operation of the second… or any other solution.

thank you !!

regards

Hello ? Any ideas ? Any suggestions that would solve this ?

Hi folks,

@bsawaked, thanks for the additional information, and I'm sorry for the delayed response. The only way for the Nest Thermostat to read both temperature from one is by having a Nest Temperature Sensor. With the Nest Temperature Sensor, you can let your Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat know which room should be a certain temperature at a certain time of day. Just place it on a wall or shelf and get the right temperature, right where you want it. Comfort from room to room. Learn more about the Nest Temperature Sensor by checking this article.

Let us know if that helps.

I appreciate your input, Jenelyn.

Regards,

Zoe
