I set the Nest thermostat at my seasonal cottage on Eco for the winter months. When there is a power outage, it defaults to the regular heat setting. It may be several days before I discover that the furnace has been running almost continuously. Is there a way to deal with this?

Hi Westminsta,
Thanks for reaching out to us. When a power outage occurs, the Nest Thermostat may revert to its default settings, including the regular heat setting instead of Eco mode. To reestablish Eco mode after a power outage, you can follow these steps:
Additionally, consider using a battery backup or uninterruptible power supply such as C wire or Nest Power Connector for your Nest Thermostat. This can provide temporary power during short power outages, allowing the thermostat to retain its settings and continue operating normally. By following these steps and considering a backup power solution, you can help ensure that your Nest Thermostat reestablishes Eco mode and operates efficiently after a power outage at your seasonal cottage.
Let us know if that helps.
Best,
Zoe
