I just bought a Nest G4CVZ thermostat that was supposed to be new. However, when i opened it up and looked at the base where you connect the wires, one of the wires has broken off leaving a piece of wire inside the base connector. Is there a way to remove it or get a replacement base?

Hi MatthewH,
Oh no! Let me take a look at this for you.
Are you located in North America or Europe? What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Where did you buy the Nest Thermostat? And could you send a photo of the Nest Thermostat with a piece of wire stacked inside? I understand it might be troublesome to take photos. We ask for them to help us better understand the issue and get a glimpse of what the damage looks like. You can reply and attach your photos here. Once I receive your reply, we can continue to discuss your options.
I'll look forward to your response.
Best,
Zoe

Thank you for your reply. The Nest Thermostat is the new 2020 model, snow. I bought it through Amazon. When I opened it up, on the base where the wires should connect, the G tab already had a wire that was stuck/broken inside. Unfortunately, the wire is stuck so far in that I cannot put in tweezers to pull it out. I do have a picture, but I don't see an option to post it on here. I may have to return it since the base is useless if there is a wire stuck in one of the connectors.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for trying to help, Zoe.
@MatthewH, I understand that removing a stuck wire from a thermostat terminal is complex. Have you tried shoving a wire all the way through and out the other side (the little hole next to the lever or tab)? If that didn't work out, please fill out this form so we can check for more options.
Keep me posted.
Regards,
Mark
