Hello cameronnobble,

Thanks for reaching out! Connecting a Nest Thermostat without instructions can be tricky, but I can help guide you through the process.

Typically, with a two-wire setup where the wires are black, one wire is for power and the other is for heating. However, without knowing the specific configuration of your HVAC system, it's essential to proceed with caution. Do they have labels for which terminal they should go to? While it's common for thermostats to have labels like "R" for power and "W" for heating, Nest uses a different labeling system. Look for terminals labeled "Rh" and "W1.".

If you're unsure about the wiring or have any doubts, it's best to consult a professional HVAC technician. They have the expertise to safely install the thermostat and ensure it works correctly with your HVAC system.

Best regards,
Mark
