I want my ac to stay on

I want my ac to stay on through the night. Me and my son sleep very hot, and when we don’t have the ac, we wake up in the middle of the night sweating and the heat actually causes him night terrors.

Now every night I wake up multiple times to to turn the ac back on. We’ve had our nest for 5 yrs and it’s never done this. We’ve reset everything, eco, learning, etc. and it still does it.
The middle of the day too. The ac will stop running.

Not sure when this started or how to undo it. If we turn the ac or heater on, we just want it to run till we turn it off. Period. That’s the setting I want to know please.
On is on, off is off. 68 degrees is 68 degrees. AC is AC.
This was Never complicated and it feels like some software setting updated and changed everything.

Hi Iwantmyactowork,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

i appreciate the steps you took in fixing this situation. But, have you also checked if the thermostat has a temperature schedule being followed? If so, please follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings then look for Eco and select it.
  • Turn off both the Eco Temperature.
  • Click Done.
  • Look for Nest Sense and select it.
  • Select and tap Auto Schedule
  • Select "No" and "Off" then press the ring to select it.
  • Click Done.
  • Look for Reset and select it.
  • Select and tap Schedule.
  • Select Confirm Reset or Clear.
  • Turn the ring to reset schedule.
  • Click OK.

Let us know if that works.

Best,

Zoe

Hello there,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the help here, Zoe.

@Iwantmyactowork, I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat isn't staying on to run your cooling system. In addition, on a regular basis, when the thermostat reaches its target temperature, a tendency to turn off the system would apply until the thermostat detected at least a 2-3 degree change in the temperature before it activated. However, if it doesn't turn on at all, please check the settings shared above that might help to recalibrate it.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
