In my new home, i can't connect my nest thermostat

In my new home, i can't connect my nest thermostat to my nest app or Google home app. I don't have an option for a qr code, and the nest won't give me a key. All my apps are up to date. I've even tried a factory reset of the nest thermometer, which hasn't solved anything. I have no idea how to solve this issue.

@michaeljvwhite

You need to set it up in the Nest app first

@Patrick_Caezza I can't connect the nest thermometer to the app, and thus I can't set the thermometer up in the app. This is what I'm trying to do.

Hi @michaeljvwhite,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're having trouble finding the QR code or entry key needed to connect your Nest Thermostat to the app. I appreciate your efforts so far, and I’d be happy to help get this sorted out.

To provide the correct instructions, could you please confirm your specific thermostat model? This is important because the Nest app is used for the Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen), whereas the Google Home app is used for the Nest Thermostat and the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). For reference, you can check out this article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.

Additionally, try looking for the QR code or entry key on the back of the thermostat display. For more tips, please see this article: Troubleshoot QR code scanning with your phone’s camera.

I appreciate you jumping in, @Patrick_Caezza.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
