Installation wiring

during winter the heating co that does maintenance on the rented furnace came and changed the thermostat I had (Sensi) as it was no longer operating properly. They installed a Honeywell Pro Series and informed it would not work with my heat pump. I then purchased a Nest 4th gen and it was working fine until I need the cool air.

I can't say about the wiring with Sensi but on the Honeywell I had:

Y - Orange wire

G - Green

C - Black

W - White

R - Red

As per instructions I now have :

Y1 - Orange

G- Green

Rc - Red ( I did switched them at some point)

W1 - White

C - Black

Systems runs, heats well but impossible to have cool air.

My home system is central furnace gas with Amana heat pump ANZ13.

I tried to move W1 to W2 as on very first thermostat I had (Sensi) it was set on AUX but Nest rejects the attempt.

Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi @Jeanjules,

Thanks for reaching out to the community page. I understand that your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) was working fine during the winter for heating, and now it doesn't work for cooling. I appreciate the detailed information shared. No worries, let's work together to get this fixed. To better assist you, please share the following information:

  • Do you see an error code on your Nest thermostat when you try to turn on the cooling?
  • Could you please share a picture of your Nest thermostat's current wiring installation?
  • Could you please share a picture of your previous Honeywell wiring installation?
  • If accessible, could you please share a picture of the wiring installation on the HVAC system's control board?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,
Jonathan
