I am installing my Nest Thermostat the blue wire connected to C is generating a E9 error code

I can't seem to find any next steps short of calling a nest pro to come in, seems like I am close. Options??

Hello @K2reasoner,

Thanks for reaching out. E9 error code means that the thermostat detects a wire in the C terminal but can't  complete a power-sharing circuit. Let's check this further.

A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? How's your Nest Thermostat wired? What's the power reading of your Nest Thermostat (You can find this information by going to settings > Technical info > Power)?

I look forward to your response.

I discovered the Blue wire was not connected on the furnace end I now have it connected.  Now my RH red wire does not have power (nothing changed on that)

Also no AC nor heat pump.  Just gas furnace with a blower

Hello everyone,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the help here, @listairee.

@K2reasoner, I appreciate you inspecting your system's wire. Could you confirm what the message code is that you're getting now on your thermostat after connecting the common wire? Gather its power readings under the Technical Info settings. Also, please share with us a photo of your old and current thermostat wiring.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
