Keeping track of Nest Temperature Sensors after installation (and how to reinstall w/out QR code)

Mycoal
Community Member

Hello,

I recently setup 3 temperature sensors. How do you find the label for each sensor if they get mixed up? Do you just have to stick a label on each sensor to keep track of them? I guess you could put one at a time in the freezer to see which temp changes (or take a battery out)?

How do you reinstall them after you've removed and thrown out the QR code after setting it up?

Thanks in advance for the help.

No, it doesn’t help. We inadvertently removed the tabs which included the QR codes before realizing they were there and no don’t know which code goes with which scanner. How can we figure this out?

Hello robinmwarnerky,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I'd love to help.

To clarify, are you having trouble adding your Nest Temperature Sensor? If so, setting up the sensor would be done on the Nest app by scanning the QR code. But you will need a Nest Learning Thermostat or a Nest Thermostat E to get it to work. Please have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Mark

Hi there,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Thanks for your help Mark and Jake.

Best,

Jenelyn

I managed to figure this out myself, as there were no solutions to my dilemma online.

For others who may inadvertently remove the battery stickers which contain the QR install codes on them, add each device as 1, 2 and 3. Put them in the fridge one at a time and as the one in the fridge gets cold, you can rename it and put it where you want.

Hey robinmwarnerky,

Woohoo! What a great idea. I'm glad that the issue is now resolved. Thank you for the update. It looks like we have come to a solution, so I'm going to lock this thread in 24 hours. If you have any other concerns or questions, please feel free to create a new thread.
