Hello JH814,
Oh no! It sounds like you're dealing with quite a frustrating situation. Losing access to your Nest Thermostat can be inconvenient. To help you out, here are a few steps you might want to try:
- If you still have thermostat access in the Nest app, check your thermostat settings and look for the PIN code you created, or unlock it to remove it.
- If you no longer have access, try to press and hold the thermostat screen or ring for 10 seconds until it shuts down, and wait until it turns on to see if it's still asking for a code.
- If the same issue persists, pull the thermostat display from its base and connect it to a personal computer (Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS).
- Insert the USB cable into the USB port on the back of the thermostat display, and attach the thermostat display to a computer with the use of the USB cable.
- Locate and open the folder or icon for the Nest device that should appear on the computer screen.
- If the Nest folder or icon doesn't show up, use a different port, USB data cable, or computer, if available. Another option is to restart the computer.
- Look for the technicalinfo.PLIST file.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
Best regards,
Mark
