Login email code never arrives

I have had this thermostat for years.. since Nest the company was selling them.  

Occasionally I need to access my account to change the schedule etc. 

Today is one of those occasions.  

When I login now tho, I get a prompt to enter a code sent to my email.   But (like many others have reported) there is no such email arriving in my inbox.  

- My email address is a gmail address. 
- There are no typos in the email address as shown in the “code will be sent to this email” page.

- I have checked the spam folders.
- I am using gmail on the web, so there’s no question of another mail client causing problems. 

I use the same email used here in the forum in case someone with nest/google can troubleshoot/fix this issue.

Fwiw, I got a code 50 minutes after the “sent time” in the email.

(the code is good for 15 minutes.)

(somewhere I think there’s a not so happy mail server.)

I think a couple days later I got a flurry of “code” emails.  

The nest signon email outage seems to have slowly recovered.  

You guys should really do something about that.  Eg SMS.
