Lowes has the GA02081-US for $130, and the model T3007ES for $249. What's the difference?

The Lowes associate said the only difference is the $249 one has outdoor weather.  He also said the $130 is previous model, and the $230 is (3rd generation).  If these both automatically update to keep pace with updates made automatically to iOS and Android (peoples' smartphones), is there a reason the "previous" would not do everything its advertised to do?

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the community! We're excited that you're considering a Nest thermostat in your home. I'm more than happy to look into this for you.

While you can also compare features here, the Nest Learning thermostat is the model that learns from your temperature preferences over time, creates custom schedules, and adapts to them whenever you make changes. It is also the model that doesn't necessarily require a C-wire if it's not already existing in your HVAC system (which can be a hassle to install). They're also better suited for complex, modern HVAC systems (around 95% compared to Nest thermostat's 85%). However, both have energy-saving features, can be controlled through the Nest/Google Home app, and can be work with Alexa or Google Assistant.

Let me know if you have any other questions for us. We're here to help!
