Manage Sensors on iOS Freezes Nest App

The Nest app freezes when choosing to manage my sensors. I saw an older thread without a resolution so I am reposting to see if anybody can help. I have tried to uninstall apps, resetting everything, even deleted and re-did my home inside the google home app.  Sensors test connection is successful.

In addition, it keeps switching back to the default thermostat instead of staying on the selected sensor. It resets randomly, not just during schedule changes. This is annoying at night when I try to keep the temps based on the sensor in my room rather than the thermostat’s in the living room. Ugh.  Please help!!

Any other ideas? iOS 17.3 iphone 14 pro

Hello Romodynamo,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the Nest app on your phone. Dealing with technical glitches can indeed be frustrating. But I appreciate you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, such as uninstalling the app, resetting everything, and reconfiguring your home in the app.

Considering that you've also tested the sensor connections successfully, it seems like you've covered the basics. However, if the problem persists, here are a few additional suggestions you might want to try:

  1. Ensure that your Nest app is up-to-date. Sometimes, issues can be resolved by simply updating to the latest version of the app.
  2. Verify if the Nest app's permissions are fully enabled in your phone settings.
  3. In some cases, accumulated cache data can lead to app freezes. Try clearing the cache for the Nest app on your iPhone and see if that resolves the problem.
  4. If the problem persists, consider performing a factory reset on your Nest Thermostat. Ensure you have all the necessary setup information before doing this
  5. Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is stable and that your Nest devices have a strong connection. Unstable connections can lead to disruptions in device control.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,

Mark
