Matter and HomeKit saying it is not responding in home app

Hi, I just setup and installed a nest thermostat I got on amazon for Black Friday, however, i set it up using matter in the apple home app, and when I ask Siri on my iPhone or Homepod mini, it says it is not responding. I have tried restarts, unpairing and repairing, and nothing works. Help!!

What type of Google Nest Thermostat do you have?

Have you tried pairing your Google Nest Thermostat device with the Google Home App or Nest App first?
To use HomeKit, you must first set up your Google Nest Thermostat on the Google Home app or Nest app, depending on the model of Google Nest Thermostat device you have.
