More than one person using app to control Nest?

Sorry, this may appear a stupid question but I generally control my Nest (3rd gen) (is that the same as 'Nest Learning Thermostat here in the UK?) from the Nest app on my phone.  Can my husband also download the app and then control the Nest in the same way, or can only one person do that?

Hey Hedgie,

I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. I found an article with more details on how your husband can also control your device. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Thanks! I control the Nest via the Nest App on my iPhone. I don't sign in on a Google account. Not sure what that is! It all looks very complicated in the article you directed me to but I'll give it a go. Thanks again for replying

Hi there,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for assisting, Jake.

@Hedgie, To let other people, like your husband, use the Nest Thermostat in your home, add him as a home member via the Google Home App and install the Google Home App and the Nest App on his phone. Please follow the steps on this page and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Mark

Thanks both of you- have sorted it! But I do get confused about having both apps - Google and Nest - why are both apps needed? I get very confused..

Hi Hedgie,

Awesome! I'm glad that you've successfully added your husband as a home member.

I understand they can be confusing. Some features were integrated into the Google Home app to allow for the seamless use of Google Nest devices with home control. But you can use both apps to control and access your Nest Thermostat.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Best regards,

Mark

Thank you Mark
