My Nest thermostat could not be charged on the base.

In the last few weeks, my Nest thermostat suddenly could not be charged on the base. But I can still charge it using a USB cable.

My model is a 2nd generation leaning thermostat and is powered by an adaptor and a USB cable.

The "power" reading from technical  info is like this:

Battery: 3.795V (this figure dropping with the time on the base)

Vusb: 5.06 V

Vin: 0.00V

Lin: 100mA(c)

I tried several remedies found from internet hoping to revive it, but all failed. They include: making sure the cable securely plugged in the adapter (this is evident from Vusb reading) ; reset the thermostat; using another adapter (when I used another adapter, the red light was flashing while the model went offline.)

Would anyone here kindly give me any advice? Thanks

I had communication with the help line. The person who helped told me that I need a new one.

I am having the same problem.  Mine started last week.  I have had it now for about 4 - 5 years and now it needs to  be charged twice a day.

I'm having the same problem suddenly.  This sounds suspicious to me. I by a $200 thermostat that only lasts for 5 years but a $30 programmable thermostat will last forever. Ridiculous!
