Hello guys, after I installed google nest learning thermostat I found out that every day there will be one time that it will continue on heating, won’t stop even it reaches 25 degrees. Now I turned the thermostat off and it still run randomly everyday by it self turning the heating on and won’t turn off.  It is 24 degree in calgary. Just wondering if this happens to anyone.

@allenliu

I see you made a wiring change when you installed the Nest. Was that on purpose?

The original thermostat had the G, W, R, and RC terminals in use, and you wired the NEst W1, C, and Rh terminals?

Did you verify that the blue wire you connected to the C terminal on the Nest was connected to the C terminal in the furnace?

Any reason as to why you didn't install the Green wire to the G terminal on the Nest?

I suggest trying this.

Verify that the blue wire is connected to the C terminal in the Furnace.

Install the missing green wire into the G terminal on the Nest.

@Patrick_Caezza

I had my C wired connected in the furnace and the G wire I had it connected before and it still won’t turn off. I removed it because I saw some other post saying it might work.  But I tried this it still won’t work

Hi allenliu,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

Please try to activate your heating system, then remove the thermostat display from the base and wait about five minutes.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for stopping by, @Patrick_Caezza

Best,

Zoe
