I installed a nest learning thermostat and then I had to add a power connector, post which the thermostat and everything at home worked well. Since yesterday the thermostat isn't holding charge. I have been manually charging but its neither holding not recharging. I have only 4 wires with heating and cooling.
What could be the issue?
1. It worked and charged itself well for a month with the power connector
2. Is it an issue with the device?

There is also a weird humming sound coming from the thermostat after I charge it and put it back on the wall panel.

Can you post a picture of the Nest Backplate and the power adapter so we see how it was hooked up?

All, having the same problem with my new Nest Learning Thermostat. Charged the thermostat for 2 hours via USB and then 24hrs later low battery and wifi disconnect. Also bought and installed a Nest Power Connector after reading no "C" wire fix, this had no effect on the results, battery still not charging.

I also have the exact wiring as @sailorshinde . All aspects of the thermostat work, fan, cooling, and heat. No issues there, just low battery and not charging. Thanks in advance for any help

Found a fix for my home. Had to sacrifice the Green wire (Fan) and use it as the Common wire ("C"). Moved the green wire from "G", on the nest base, to "C". Then on the panel on the furnace unit, moved the green wire "G", on the furnace panel, to "C". After turning back on the unit, the nest thermostat immediately went back over 3.8v and reconnected to the wifi. The disadvantage of this is that i can no longer just run the fan by itself.

I noticed that your Thermostat cable at the furnace has two unused conductors wrapped around the outer insulation. You can upward that blue wire, and put it on the Common, move the Green wire back to G. Then at your thermostat pull the cable a bit more out of the wall, find the blue wire and put it in C and move green wire back to G. Turn power back on and all should be good.

Hey Cooling Wizard. I saw the same thing. Unfortunately, they did something in the wall and can't get it to come forward. I have ordered a new cable and will pull a new cable in the coming weeks and it is a short run. Thanks for the info and have a good one

Hi folks,
@jwnjr, I'm glad that everything has been sorted out. If you run into any more questions in the future, please feel free to create a new thread.
@sailorshinde, some 3rd party C wire adapters can cause problems or damage your Nest Learning Thermostat, even if they claim to be Nest compatible. This could be the reason why you're Nest Learning Thermostat no longer hold the charge. In this case, we recommend you using a Nest Power Connector instead to ensure compatibility and best performance with your thermostat.
If you're not able to get a Nest Power Connector right away, you can charge the Nest Thermostat display instead with the use of a micro-USB cable for an hour. After that, place the thermostat display back to its base and then check if there's any power error.
Thanks for your help, @CoolingWizard.
Best,
Zoe

Yes the issue is still there. There’s no blue wire. I had to call a technician but he couldn’t figure either.
this nest is now causing the air conditioning to switch on and off every 30 seconds.
