Here is what the wiring looks like its a nest version 3
Furnace is only a few years old
Yesterday it didn’t come on in the morning when set to 68 and the home was 58. Then after hours in the afternoon it just randomly came on

Actually correction the old furnace was a single stage and the new one (2 years old) is a carrier 2 stage.
So maybe the wiring is off?

This is a common issue during initial setup. To resolve this, please factory reset your Nest Thermostat. During the setup process, you'll be prompted to select the primary heating source. Choose the option that's listed as "Stage 1."
