NEST thermostat not working with AC

My unit worked fine (just moved in) I wanted to connect it to my account and such so I deleted the account. When I went to set it up on my account it said the batteries were low. I replaced the batteries and then popped the unit back in. Ever since then I don’t have a cooling option and don’t have a way to make the AC turn on. We are fairly confident this unit only controls the AC for this side of the house. The unit in our bedroom controls the ac just fine.

Hi @Gsnov18

I understand this must be frustrating, especially since your Nest thermostat was working perfectly before. It sounds like accidentally deleting the account may have caused some disruption to the settings. Here's what we can do to troubleshoot the cooling issue and get your Nest thermostat back to controlling the AC:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check the Mode: Make sure the Nest thermostat is not in "Eco" or "Away" mode. These modes prioritize energy saving and might not cool as aggressively. Set it to "Cool" mode for now.
  2. Verify Temperature Settings: Double-check the programmed temperatures and ensure they're set to your desired cool range during the times you need cooling.
  3. Review Learning Function: Some Nest thermostats have a learning function that adjusts temperatures based on past usage patterns. It's possible this function might be stuck on a setting from the previous owner. Try disabling the learning function temporarily and see if it makes a difference.

If the issue persists:

  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, consider a factory reset of the Nest thermostat. This will erase all previous settings and allow you to start fresh with your account. However, remember that this will also erase any custom settings or schedules you might have had.

Here are some resources that might be helpful:

We appreciate your patience as you work through this. If none of these solutions work, please don't hesitate to reply to this post so we can assist you further.

Josh

@Gsnov18

Do you have one system that is controlled by two different thermostats or two separate systems each controlled by their thermostat?

If you only have one system, then there should be a zone controller near the furnace/air handler. Can you post a picture of it along with its wiring?

Can you also post a picture of each thermostat's wiring?
