Need help for nest to not change settings and turn off the heat when our internet goes down

I need the nest thermostat to not change or turn off the heater when our internet goes down. I think when the internet goes down the nest unit senses we are not home and turns off the heating changing our warm house into a freezer. Our settings are on manual which we use with our app. It would be fine if when the internet goes down that it would just leave the heater on, but it doesn’t. It turns it off. Any suggestions. The internet goes down when it rains. We are battling with att to fix that but it has taken years and they still haven’t figured it out. I need our amazing heating to not do its own thing when it doesn’t sense our phone I guess. Any suggestions?
