Hi,
I currently have a System boiler, and a 2nd Generation Nest thermostat that I removed from my old house.
The new house is currently 2 zones, upstairs, and downstairs and water. I would like to know, whether I could buy a 3rd generation Nest thermostat and heatlink for the Heating and Hot Water downstairs, while using the 2nd Generation for upstairs. Would the systems work together fine, or should I try get rid of the 2nd gen and get both 3rd gen thermostats?
Thanks.

Hi there @Sig1 ! 2 thermostats can be added to the same account, in the same home, and you would be able to easily switch between them as they will both appear on the screen, and you are able to select the one you want to control by just pressing on it. To use the other one you just need to select the back arrow and you're back on the screen were both are visible.

Hi there and thanks for reaching our community. I'll do my best to answer to your inquiry. So, I'll recommend having the 3rd Generation Nest Thermostat working on the downstairs zone, to control the heating and the hot water and to keep the 2nd Generation Nest Thermostat upstairs for the heating. You'll have two Heat Links connected to the boiler, but they won't cause any trouble because of the difference between the generations, since they function in different zones.

Hi Tudor,
That's very helpful, thank you. Can I also ask, what is the management like if the 2 thermostats from the app, will they together and easy to select say upstairs and downstairs. Or would I have to possibly have 2 separate accounts, of is switching between each setting long winded?
