Nest 3e thermostat overheats

Seren63

One of two nest learning thermostats purchased with a new alarm system in April kept losing power about 4 weeks ago. The existing C-wire had not been connected.

Now the thermostat fails to charge and is overheating. So I now have no thermostat for one of two units.

Hi Seren63,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay and for the trouble this has caused you. I'd like to take a closer look at it. A few questions: do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or in the app? In what country are you located? Please provide your Nest Thermostat's power readout.

You can follow the guide below:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Best,

Jenelyn
