Nest 3rd Gen Learning Thermostat will not stop raising the temperature.

My nest 3rd gen learning thermostat will not stop raising the temperature of the house.

I have all learning, eco, home/away, anything that would override my programmed schedule disabled, but it will continue to raise the temperature periodically throughout the day.

Once we realize it's getting hotter if we manually adjust the thermostat it will begin cooling back down to the desired temperature but I already have the same temperature scheduled to be held throughout the day.  I don't understand why it won't hold the scheduled temperature.

What can I do to have this thermostat just hold the temperature steady within a few degrees throughout the day?

We have pets at home and this can be problematic if the thermostat won't follow the scheduled program for temperature.

Hi Babyknees,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Nest Learning Thermostat is increasing the temperature, and I know this can be frustrating. Don't worry, I'm here to help you.

To understand the issue better and find the best solution, I need to ask a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • When did the issue start?
  • What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?
  • Are there any error messages?
  • Is this a new installation?
  • What kind of HVAC system do you have? (Heat pump, conventional system, etc.)
  • Do you notice any intervals or specific patterns between these strange behaviors?
  • Does the issue happen on heating only, cooling only, or both?
  • Do you have a common ground wire or C wire?
  • Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days or weeks?

I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel
