phoned google support, who were very helpful and sent me a new unit

new unit fails to find wifi just as previous unit, so cant even set up new unit as i cant get past internet connection…. Any thoughts guys?

Hello Parners,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear that your replacement Nest Thermostat display is also experiencing the same issue. I'd be happy to shed some light on the situation here.

The thermostat's battery might be drained because it was locked in storage for a long period of time, so it won't detect any Wi-Fi networks in order to save the battery until it recharges.

Please check if the battery level status in the Technical Info settings is at 3.7 volts; if it is, charge the display for an hour before plugging it back in the base. If you were unable to complete the setup for not detecting any Wi-Fi networks, try finishing the initial setup first by skipping the Nest App and Internet Connection options to check its battery level. Also, can you share with us your existing support ID number?

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark
