Hello,
I’ve got what feels like a simple question, but I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere online!
I have the Nest 3rd Gen with Heatlink, controlling my standard Combi Boiler through OpenTherm.
Central Heating works great and as expected, no problems there. However, my confusion comes with the hot water supply to taps/bath/shower.
I understand the Combi Boiler heats water on demand, so why is my Nest app telling me the hot water is on and is “heating water to 60 degrees”? The actual water temp stays at a lower number until I use the boiler.
My logic says the Nest shouldn’t be controlling the Combi Hot Water, as there’s nothing it can control. Hot water just comes on demand. If that’s so, why can’t I disable this functionality in the app?
Alternatively, maybe the ‘ECO’ mode setting on my boiler is overriding the Nest somehow and I’m missing something.
Looking forward to hearing back!
Josh
