Hello Thavaselvan,

Sorry to hear about your thermostat issues! I can understand the frustration behind a device not working. Let's see what's going on here.

A blinking green light means that your Nest is updating the software, starting up or restarting. Typically, this will only last a minute or two. Once your thermostat has finished starting up, it will turn on so you can use it. A blinking orange light means that your device needs to charge. To do so, please try the following:

You need to charge your thermostat using the USB cable at its back.
To reach it, you first need to pull off the display.
  1. Check which USB cable is compatible with your Nest thermostat.
  2. Depending on your model, you will either need a mini or micro USB.
  3. Avoid using computer USB ports or unpowered USB for charging your Nest Thermostat.
  4. Once the charging is ongoing, the screen will light up.
  5. You will see a message asking you to connect it back to its base.
  6. Place the thermostat on the base.
  7. Gently press the thermostat until you hear a click sound.

Let us know how it goes! I hope this resolves this issue.

Hey Sntutuge6,

Sorry to hear about your Nest thermostat and for the delay.

What specific Nest thermostat do you have? When did the message start appearing? Also, could you try the suggested steps below:

  1. Make sure that the wires are flat on the base. Detach the thermostat from its base and check that the wires lay flat on the base.
  2. Loosen the screws of the base. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws of the base by a half or quarter of a (counter clockwise) turn. This should help if the base is screwed too tightly to the wall.
  3. Make sure the thermostat display is properly seated.
    • Check the Nest thermostat from the side. If the white plastic from the thermostat base is visible around any of the edges, the Nest display isn't seated properly.
    • If the display doesn’t go any further, try detaching it from the base and check for loose wires or other obstructions that could cause the display to push away the base.
    • If necessary, try to take pictures of your thermostat base and wire setup to confirm that there aren’t any obstructions.
  4. Check the 20-pin connector for any visible damages.
  5. Swap your thermostat displays if you have 2 or more thermostats of the same generation.
  6. Reseat the wires.
    • Turn off the power to the HVAC, and reseat all the wires.
    • Make sure that the wire from the terminal is flushed against the base, so you can properly seat the display at the base.
    • Turn the power back on, and reattach the display to the base.

Let me know how it goes.
