Hi,
I bought three new 4th gen nest thermostats for my home. Two are set up and running perfectly fine. For the third one, I am having issues setting it up. I go through the process the same as the others, but when I am done, it just shows as a “nest thermostat” in my devices instead of the name I gave it (as the other two show). When I click into this thermostat from the Google home app, I get a blank black screen. I cannot control the device and I cannot remove the device.
I have tried hard resets, factory resets, unplugging it, etc. countless times. I have deleted my entire home in the Google home app and reset up everything again. Nothing works. The Google support rep I spoke with on the phone couldn’t figure it out either. It has been escalated but I am not going to wait for them to get back to me in a few days. Anyone have any suggestions? Will just be returning it if I can’t figure it out tonight.

I just bought a house with two 4th gen nest thermostats and I am having the exact same problem. Since I am not the original purchaser of this thermostat I don't know if I can get any help.

Hi there,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues with your Nest Thermostat (4th gen) devices since you're getting a black screen when tapping the devices in the Google Home app. I'm happy to assist you.
@RGKessinger1019, I appreciate all your efforts trying to fix this issue by factory resetting the device, unplugging it, deleting the app and re-adding the device back.

Any updates?? I just got a new one and now I can’t control it. Phone support just tells me to wait. This is absurd!

No updates. I plan to call again today. Shouldn’t take over a week to fix and they should at a minimum send a replacement for the one that isn’t connecting seeing how the other two I have connected fine.
Friday
They updated the app and not only it didn’t fix my problem, it got worse. Ridiculous and absurd.
