Nest 4th Generation Thermostat Questions

Timlat

I installed the new Nest Generation 4 replacing my Generation 2.  I have a few questions.

Fan Setting- On my old unit I could set the fan to always run. I am not seeing that as an option now. What am I missing

Registration - when I go to settings and enter 6 Digit letters and numbers for the QR code it says the numbers are not correct but they are so I can't register the unit.

Warranty- How do I register for the Warranty?

Currently, the 4th Gen Learning thermostat is not supported in the UK and is not compatible with a heat link.

hi tim.

not answering your questions soory but asking my own from you!

how easy was it to swap over?

did you do it yourself or get a tradesperson in?

i have a few other questions, i'm uk based. mainly to do with the heat link wiring.

oh Ok so i can never own one of these then? or is there a work around?

and the 3rd gen would need a new heat link fitted too? how frustrating that they decide to junk a whole system on someone's whim in the boardroom.

i think i've resigned myself to just having a dumb thermostat from late october. such a shame.

on the plus side it's going to save me money NEVER buying or subscribing to any google products ever again!

Did it myself just took a picture of the wires on the old one and hooked up the new one the same. Works great but the settings in home are not as easy as they were in the Nest app

thanks for your reply.

are you UK or USA based? the US wiring looks much more straight forward than the UK , where i am with our higher voltage system.

mine is set up via a wifi cradle. i'm unsure if the new unit gets wired into that, or if it needs to go into the heat link? no one seems to have a definitive guide of this?

US mine was easy it said if it’s high voltage it wont work

yet another thing that google haven't considered, or even care about.

it's going to cost me about £500 if i upgrade to gen 4 with the unit and the tradesman factored in. some suit somewhere has unilaterally decided to abandon all us early adopters. i hate them for it!
